Nine arrested in Karnataka's Mangalore for 'suspicious activity'

Mangalore: Nine people were arrested by the Mangalore police late on Friday night for suspicious activity. All the persons were arrested from a private lodge near Pumpwell near Kadri police station.

While the identities of those arrested have not been made public, some are reported to be native of Kerala's Madikeri and some are locals.

Interestingly, a vehicle with a number plate of "National Crime Investigation Bureau" has also been seized by the police. The number place also mentions "Govt of India" instead of the registration number of the vehicle.

Notably, the National Crime Investigation Bureau is not a government agency, it's a Non Government Organisation (NGO) that operates independently against crime and corruption cases. The official website of the NCIB states that it "helps local, national and even international law enforcement officials to curtail the activities of crime syndicates, rackets, organised gangs, smuggles."

As per the NCIB website, Suresh Shukla is the Founder Director and National Chairman of the NGO. The number plate of vehicle impounded mentions "Director" as well.
