No FIRs against bogus schools, says Gujarat Secondary Education Board

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Secondary Education Board (GSEB) officials on Thursday said that there is no move to lodge police complaint against the six schools found to be flouting rules in three districts of Gujarat. Individual inquiries are given instead to the DEOs.

Six schools — three in Surat, one each in Bhavnagar, Surendranagar and Ahmedabad — had got affiliation from the state board in past two years and had also provided admissions for the current academic year.
“However, it was found that there were several discrepancies as the details mentioned in the application and ground realities were not matching. For example, a school in Surat did not have the land that they had shown as their premises,” said a board official.

Another school had forged documents to get the approval, added a member. “Not filing a formal police complaint may be a bad precedence and we would surely raise the issue in next meeting,” added the member.
