No plans of taking over Mapusa Urban Bank: Gaude

Saligao: Minister for cooperation Govind Gaude, on Monday, said the government has no plans to take over the Mapusa Urban Cooperative Bank. “The government is in talks with PMC and TDSL banks,” Gaude said speaking at the inauguration of the new branch of the Dayanand Urban Cooperative Credit Society at Morod, Mapusa.



“Mapusa Urban Cooperative Bank is not under the purview of registrar of cooperative societies, Goa, but there are over 2l lakh depositors so it is our prime duty to protect the interest of the depositors.

“We have already written a letter to the central government to give justice to the depositors,” the coorperation minister said.

Mapusa MLA Joshua D’souza and chairperson of Mapusa Municipal Council Ryan Braganza were also present at the inauguration.
