India is known for its tourism where many such places are seen which carry many secrets in themselves. Such unique places are near Agartala named Unakoti, which is known for its 99 lakh 99 thousand 999 idols. The mystery of these idols has not been solved to date.

Very few people know about this place. Due to these idols, this place is named Unakoti which means one less in crore. It is located about 145 kilometers from Agartala, the capital of Tripura.

Unakoti is called a place of mystery because there is a mountainous area that is full of dense forests and marshy areas. Now how would millions of idols have been built in the middle of the forest, because it would have taken years and earlier there was no one living around this area. It has been the subject of research for a long time.

There is a legend about the sculptures of Hindu deities carved on stones and carved stones. It is believed that once one crore deities including Lord Shiva were going somewhere. As it was night, the rest of the gods and goddesses asked Shiva to stop in Unakoti and rest. Shivji agreed, but at the same time he also said that everyone must leave this place before sunrise. But only Lord Shiva was awake at sunrise, all the other gods and goddesses were sleeping. Seeing this, Lord Shiva became angry and cursed and made every one of stone. For this reason, there are 99 lakh 99 thousand 999 idols here, ie less than one crore (excluding Lord Shiva).

Another story is in circulation regarding the making of these idols. It is said that there was a craftsman named Kalu, who wanted to go to Mount Kailash with Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati, but this was not possible. However, due to the insistence of the craftsman, Lord Shiva told him that if he would make statues of one crore deities in one night, he would take him with him to Kailash. On hearing this, the craftsman got involved in his work with a lot of zeal and quickly started constructing idols one by one. He made idols all night, but when the morning was counted, it was found that there was less of an idol in it. Because of this, Lord Shiva did not take the craftsman with him. It is believed that this is why this place was named 'Unakoti'.
