Northeast India Felt 2 Earthquakes Back to Back, Tremors Felt in Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland

Churachandpur : Two tremors of earthquake were felt in the northeastern state of Manipur on Monday night. This information was given by the National Center for Seismology. Both earthquake tremors occurred within 13 minutes.

According to the National Seismology Center, two earthquakes one with a magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter scale and the other with a magnitude of 2.6 occurred in Manipur on Monday evening. Tremors of the earthquakes were felt in the entire northeast region. Epicenter of the earthquake was Vishnupur district, 13 km from Moirang town, at 8.12 pm.

It was followed by another tremor, measuring 2.6, that happened around 20 kilometres west-south-west of the same town, the National Centre for Seismology said. There is no immediate report of any casualty or damage to property because of the quakes, officials said.

The National Seismology Center said that the intensity of the second earthquake was 2.6, which was located 20 kilometers southwest of this city. Officials said that there was no information of any property damage due to the earthquake at present.
