Now, take a video tour of Hill Palace Museum

THRIPPUNITHURA: Minister for port and archaeology Kadannappally Ramachandran will launch a video to guide visitors and mast lights at Hill Palace Museum on Monday in a bid to make the palace more visitor-friendly.


"The six-minute long signature video will narrate the architecture and the heritage of the Hill Palace," said publication officer of archaeology department E Dineshan.

The video will highlight the architecture of rare structures such as 'Ettukettu' and 'Kulapura Malika' at the Hill Palace, which is spread over 52 acres of evergreen vegetation. The visitors will also get an idea of the history as well as culture associated with the Hill Palace, which was the royal headquarters of Kochi royal family, through the video," Dineshan said.

Using Rs 1.9 crore from state plan fund, infrastructure of the Palace is being developed. The renovation of 'Ettukettu' was completed and the facelift of 'Naalukettu' and adjoining 'Kulapura Malika' will soon be completed. Among the four ponds on the premises, three ponds with attached Kulapura Malika were cleaned.

The archaeology department is also planning an expansion of the infrastructure of the Palace, he added.

As the major portion of the Palace is rich in evergreen forest containing rare species of trees and birds, the possibilities of an eco tourism project is also included in the master plan of Hill Palace Museum Development.

MLA Anoop Jacob will preside over the function on Monday, while chairperson Chandrika Devi and others will deliver felicitation address.
