Now, video shows Anil Vij 'abusing' protesters in Ambala village

AMBALA: Haryana health minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anil Vij purportedly hurdled abuses at a group of protesters who were shouting slogans against him and his party on Tuesday, according to a video in circulation on social media.

The incident reportedly took place in Machhonda village, which falls in Vij’s constituency.

Though TOI could not contact Vij for comment on allegedly using explicit words in public, the BJP’s IT cell — some time after the video went viral — issued a statement. “Today at Machhonda village, some workers of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) forcibly entered into the BJP’s workers’ meeting and started creating a ruckus,” it said.

A source said the BJP leader was holding a party workers’ meeting at Begumpur Dharamshala of the village, when INLD workers entered it and started questioning him about local issues. Machhonda falls in Ambala Rural assembly seat, from where Vij is the MLA.

The source added that when the INLD workers were asked to leave, they went outside the venue and started raising slogans against the BJP and Vij. In the video, Vij is seen descending the staircase of the venue and a man is heard using an explicit word for the protesters in Punjabi. However, the audio and video are not clear enough. As soon as the male voice is heard abusing, the protesters get angry and start hurling abuses at the minister.

The security of the minister controlled the crowd at this point of time, following which Vij left the village. The video went viral on WhatsApp and Facebook and worked as fuel in the fire for the BJP’s opposition.
