Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik announces plan for Ayush hospital in Dhenkanal

Cuttack : Chief minister Naveen Patnaik said an Ayush (ayurvedic, yoga and naturopathy, unani, siddha and homeopathy) hospital will come up in Dhenkanal district during the foundation stone laying ceremony of the 300-bed Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Sciences and Research Hospital at Sri Sri University here on Saturday.



He said the government has recognised ayurveda , unani and homeopathy systems of medicine as an most important part of healthcare long back. “Around 800 ayurvedic clinics and five ayurvedic hospitals are functioning in the state,” said Naveen.

The chief minister said yoga, ayurveda, organic foods, a clean and green environment will provide a better life to people. Citing the importance of providing better health services and promoting health tourism, Naveen said, “I hope both public and private initiatives will go a long way in realising the dream of Healthy Odisha, Happy Odisha.”

Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said the hospital will be functional by 2020-end. “We opened an ayurveda clinic in the campus last month. Within a month, more than 1,000 patients have been treated in the clinic. We are giving maximum importance to people from the BPL category,” he said.

He also said ayurveda is India’s gift to the world and people in the West are realising its impact.
