Cuttack: Manjeet Das, neighbor of BJD MP from Kendrapara and actor Anubhav Mohanty today lodged a defamation case at Purighat police station in Cuttack against the Parliamentarian. In his complaint, Das, a leader of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal, alleged that some of the tweets of Mohanty are maligning his image and spreading false information about him.

“The MP tweeted a video featuring me while mentioning that the boy is drunkard and antisocial a few days back. This false information tarnishes my image,” alleged Das.

The BCJD leader asked for an action against Mohanty under the IT Act for misusing the social media to defame him.

“I don’t want to tarnish the image of anyone. I just want the MP to delete the tweet and beg an apology,” he added.

Earlier, the Purighat police had registered a case against Das for allegedly abusing the MP. The case was registered against Das under Sections 341, 323, 294, 307, 379 and 506 of the IPC. The personal security officer (PSO) of Mohanty had filed a written complaint against Das accusing him of threatening the Parliamentarian.

On Twitter, the Mohanty had accused Das of hurling abuses at him. On the other hand, Das alleged that Mohanty misbehaved with him when he was trying to resolve a dispute between two youths in the locality.
