Bhubaneswar: Odisha government will set up Doppler radar in Balasore and Sambalpur for accurate weather updates, informed Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Sudam Marndi.
Replying to a question in House yesterday, the minister said that Doppler radar has been set up in Gopalpur and Paradeep to get advance information, enhancing the lead-time so essential for saving lives and property, in the event of natural disaster associated with severe weather and cyclones.
The government has plan to set up the doppler radar in Balasore and Sambalpur to track wind movement, he said.
Besides, a mobile application is being used by the department to alert people about lightning and heatwave in their localities. The advance information about Cyclone FANI had been provided to people through mass messaging system to remain alert, the minister informed the House.
