LUCKNOW: Only a few gyms resumed operations on Wednesday after the district administration allowed their reopening while adhering to strict safety protocols as per Unlock-3 guidelines .

Several gyms, however, continue to be shut as they have not been able to make full arrangements as directed by the administration.

According to guidelines, visitors to gyms should maintain social distancing. Hand sanitizer , mask and Aarogya Setu app are also mandatory. A reality check by TOI found only a few gyms open in Mahanagar, Lalbagh, Jankipuram, Vikasnagar, Krishnanagar, Aashiana, Alambagh and Niralanagar.

In a prominent gym in Indiranagar, against 40 regular members, only eight had showed up.

Gym owner Salil Ahmed said, “I am glad the government has allowed gyms to reopen, otherwise we would have gone bankrupt due to closure since March.”

Parth Nigam, another gym owner, said he would resume work next week after making full preparations. “We will allow customers in batches and sanitize the place regularly,” he added.

Rajat Verma, a gym owner in Aashiana, said he does not expect much business in the coming months.
