 Holi is one of the most important festivals celebrated in India. Tagged as the festival of colours, Holi is one holiday in India where every celebrated with their family and loved ones by throwing different hues of powders on each other called gulaal. The festival is celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm, as people eat delicacies and also host parties and engage in consuming a summer drink called

bhaang.

Commemorating the arrival of Spring, Holi celebrates good over evil. Among many others, it is fabled around the story King Hiranyakashipu and his sister Holika, a demon. Where the king wanted to be worshipped as a god but his son, Prahlada, wouldn’t, being a devotee of Vishnu. Due to this, Holika plans to get into the fire with Prahlada so that he can die, since she has the power not to get burned. However, Vishnu has compassion for Prahlada and saves while killing Holika. Therefore, this festival is a celebration of triumph over evil.

On Holi, attending parties and throwing colours has been a tradition of the old. You can always skip the hustle bustle of the city and take a one-day trip to these places to celebrate the festival of colours with your family and loved ones.
