One injured in pothole-related accident in Kalyan

KALYAN: In a potholes related incident, a Kalyan based bank staff Rajendra More (42) suffered injuries on his head while in another incident, a 30-year-old Swapnil Bhave survived after he fell off his motorcycle when it hit a pothole in Ambernath . The vehicle coming behind him stopped in time or else it could be fatal.




The first incident took place on Wednesday evening on Malang road in Kalyan's Nevali area when More, a resident of Lokgram area in Kalyan (East) was returning home from Navi Mumbai with his friend Ganesh on a motorcycle.

His family members said near Nevali area More's motorcycle hit a big pothole on the road and he lost balance and fell down suffering injuries on his head.

The passerby rushed the injured to a nearby private hospital where he suffered 12 stitches on his head. Rajendra's friend Uday Rasal said, "The KDMC (Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation) had failed to fill potholes in twin Kalyan-Dombivli city as on the same road two years ago a girl Prajakta Fulore had died due to potholes.''

Similarly, in Ambernath, a 30-year-old Bhave who was returning his home from office on motorcycle fell on road after his motorcycle skid due to potholes on Hutatma chowk in Ambernath.

In Kalyan-Dombivli, Ambernath and Bhiwandi area of Thane district this year, so far, around five people have died and many have injured due to potholes on roads as the civic body has failed to fill potholes.
