Over 150 MSME units face shut down within 6 years in Mandi Gobindgarh in Punjab

Patiala, May 16 (KNN) Around 150 micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) units have shut down within six years in Mandi Gobindgarh in Punjab.

Gobindgarh once Asia’s leading iron and steel town also known as Loha Mandi is slowly losing out its edge with MSME being forced  to shut down due to circumstances.

“Government must contribute electricity, water and transportation to these industries," said AK Bhargav, General Secretary of  Steel Re-Roller Association in Gobindgarh.

He said that market is working very slow as they are not getting money in proper rotation. On top of that logistic cost is going very up due to which they are closing down in huge numbers day by day.

Also, when people will listen they will understand the problem that’s why these issues are being brought up in elections, he added.

Federation of Punjab Small Industries Association (FOPSIA) President Badish K Jindal said, “This situation came due to failure of State and Central Government.”

They are not having any support including infrastructure support so this resulted in shutting down of these industries, he added.

He asserted that, "We are picking up this particular topic because the parties want our support for the elections and we are showing them what they have done in the past few years."
