Over Rs 2 crore spent under supplementary nutrition scheme in Fatehgarh Sahib: DC

PATIALA: A total of Rs 2.38 crores have been spent under supplementary nutrition scheme which aims at providing nutritious diet to children, pregnant women and nursing mothers in Patiala district . In all, the five blocks of the district, 665 anganwari centers and 34 mini anganwari centers are operational under the scheme.



Prashant Kumar Goyal, deputy commissioner, Fatehgarh Sahib, while giving more details about this scheme here at District Administrative Complex on Thursday, disclosed that 19,720 beneficiaries are availing the benefits through these kendras which includes 10,494 children (age six months to three years), 4,895 children (age three years to six years) and 4,331 pregnant ladies and nursing mothers.

He said that the diet being provided includes milk, panjiri, kheer, etc. Moreover, benefits of various other schemes related with education, health and immunization are also given to pregnant women and nursing mothers through these kendras.

He further added that adolescent girls scheme has been started in the district for the nutrition and health upliftment of the school dropout girls between 11 to 18 years of age. Besides this various trainings are also organised on regular basis regarding the health of the adolescent girls.
