Padalkar leading light in social service: Doc

Nagpur: The new generation should take inspiration from Suchita Padalkar who has been promoting the cause of child education. Her dedicated work to the society should be acknowledged by one and all, said eminent child specialist Dr Uday Bodhankar on Friday.

He was speaking at a programme organized at Panchvati Vruddhashram, Umred Road, to mark the death anniversary of Matru Seva Sangh (MSS) founders Kamlatai Hospet and birth anniversary of Venutai Nene, respectively.

Dr Bodhankar conferred the founders award, sponsored by Krishnatai Bhave and Lele family, on Padalkar that consisted of sari, citation and cash prize in recognition of social work. Padalkar’s humanitarian approach and willingness to back children’s educational programmes will go a long way in creating a better society, he said.

Vice-president of Matru Seva Sangh Jayashri Pendharkar, secretary Dr Lata Deshmukh and president of Nandanvan Jyeshtha Nagarik Mandal Sudhir Tupkar were present.

Lauding MSS for serving the needy people, Bodhankar said the organization’s work is like a caring mother. The area of organizations like MSS which understand the value of motherhood keeps expanding as they reach out to the masses without expecting anything in return, he added.

Replying to the felicitation, Padalkar said, “No work can be done without the support of well-wishers and I feel honoured to have got the award given in memory of founders of MSS whose contribution to the society remains unmatched.”

She said for her service to those in need is life and apprised the gathering of the way her schools and non-profitable organizations function for which no government grant is taken. Students of her schools are given education in various fields, she added.

The students are encouraged to take to ground for improving physical stamina, but, at the same time, care is taken that a scientific temperament is developed among them for which they are given maths riddles and puzzles to solve. There is a ‘silence time’ at the school when students, teachers and even visitors do not talk. This bodes well to stay calm in trying conditions, Padalkar said.

Earlier, Dr Bodhankar was welcomed by Dr Deshmukh while Padalkar was introduced by Pendharkar.
