Padma awardee educator chief guest at 14th IIIT Allahabad convocation

Allahabad: Indian Institute of Information Technology-Allahabad (IIIT-A) would organise its 14th convocation on Saturday.

The institute will award 506 undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. It will also award degrees to 16 research scholars at the event.

Padma Bhushan Vaidyeswaran Rajaraman will be the chief guest at the convocation.

Rajaraman is known for his pioneering efforts to promote computer science education in India. He is credited for helping establish the first academic programme in computer science in the country at Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur in 1965.

IIIT-A director P Nagabhushan said the event would be organised in the institute’s main auditorium.

“During convocation, 240 BTech (IT) and 77 BTech (electronic communication engineering) degrees will be awarded, apart from 189 MTech, MBA and PhD degrees,” he added.
