Panchkula: Mansa Devi temple to have multi-level parking soon

PANCHKULA: Keeping in mind the rush at the Mata Mansa Devi Temple , the Shri Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Board, Panchkula , has decided to make a multi-level parking facility on a piece of 4 acres of the temple land to provide parking space to the devotees which come in large numbers during Navaratras to offer prayers twice a year.




The multi-level parking will have three levels, two underground and one on the ground floor. The shrine has asked the department concerned to prepare the design and the entire plan so that the project is taken up in the next meeting of the shrine board for approval. The shrine board officials further said the budget for the entire project would be borne by them using the donations they receive in large amounts.

At present, residents have to park their vehicles on roads when parking areas are full. Considering this traffic mess, the shrine has taken the decision to built a multi-level parking facility. S P Arora, chief executive officer (CEO), Shree Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Board, said, "To facilitate the devotees with regard to parking facility, this step has been initiated. Traffic leads to chaos every Navratra. It is the need of the hour."

Both Mata Mansa Devi Temple and Kali Mata Temple receives donation in crores every year and the entire amount received in donation is used to complete developmental works and run the shrine expenses. In 2014, both temples during Chaitra Navratra received Rs 1.50 crore, Rs 1.34 crore in 2015, Rs 1.37 crore in 2016, Rs 1.63 crore in 2017, Rs 1.64 crore in 2018 and Rs 1.59 crore in 2019 in offerings and donations.

During Ashwin Navratras, both temple in 2014 received Rs 1.12 crore, Rs 1.12 crore in 2015, Rs 1.27 crore in 2016, Rs 1.31 crore in 2017 and Rs 1.07 crore in 2018 in offerings and donations.

Besides this, the temple also receives offerings in foreign currency, which include US, Canadian, New Zealand, Singapore and Australian dollars and evn Euros. Also, gold and silver nuggets are also donated by the devotees in both temples. All these earnings are counted by the shrine board officials under the supervision of officers and under CCTV surveillance every day.

A Sanskrit college is also being planned on the temple premises on 2 acres and an expression of interest has been approved for a gurukul college as well. Besides this, a park on 6 acres of mela ground of the temple has also been approved and work for the same will start soon. A passage to reach directly the main temple will be made through this park.
