Passengers on Delhi-Bhopal Shatabdi Express Served Rotten Food?

A raid by Madhya Pradesh Food Department officials on the kitchen of the Delhi-Bhopal Shatabdi Express, reportedly found that passengers were being served rotten and contaminated food prepared in unhygienic conditions. The food department officials bagged samples of the meals being prepared at the base kitchen on Sunday, 25 August, reported

The officials reportedly destroyed 25 kgs of rotten onions immediately after seizing the stock and also sent samples of rotten paneer, spices, onions and pulses to a government laboratory for examination.

Apart from the quality of the products, the inspecting officials also allegedly found that the kitchen staff were not wearing the mandated gloves and caps while preparing meals.

‘’We have come to inspect the base kitchen of the train on the instructions of the Gwalior District Collector following several complaints of unhealthy food being served to passengers on board the train. We inspected Vridavan Food Products, which supplies meals to several premium trains and seized samples of rotten items being used for preparing the meals.”

The food department’s raid reportedly comes after repeated complaints by passengers travelling on the Delhi-Bhopal Shatabdi Express over a period of time.
