Peaceful celebrations in city amid tight security

Ranchi: The festival of colours was celebrated peacefully in Ranchi amid tight security measures on Tuesday. The administration had deployed district police, central reserve police force and rapid action police at sensitive places of the city.

Ranchi senior superintendent of police (SSP) Chandan Kumar Sinha also played with colours along with his jawans.

Several groups of people also participated in festivities organised in different apartments.

Police force was stationed in various parts of the state capital both during Holika Dahan and Holi. The cops were on the move to keep vigil in their area to avoid any untoward incident. The police were constantly communicating through Whatsapp groups regarding the development in various parts of the city for taking immediate action.

Ranchi rural superintendent of police (SP) Sumit Kumar Agrawal said, “Barring minor incidents, the festival was peaceful.”

Agrawal who is also in charge of traffic said that check posts were put up at around 30 places in the city to prevent drunken driving.

It may be stated here that more than 200 patients arrived at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science's (Rims) central emergency in the last two days.

Rims public relations officer Dr Rajiv Ranjan said that the figures included accidental and other types of cases.
