Plaint lodged for water theft from Narmada canal in Patan

PALANPUR: A complaint of water theft from Narmada irrigation canal was lodged on Wednesday by N R Parmar, assistant engineer division II of Radhanpur with Santalpur police station. Parmar in his complaint has urged police to stop theft of water from the canal.


Parmar had received information that water was being illegally pumped out from the canal that supplies water to arid regions of Patan and Kutch.

The water was being used by through tankers owners for commercial purpose, he alleged.

R B Vadhiya, SI at Santalpur police station said that they have begun patrolling around the canal particularly near Kalyanpura village about 7km from Santalpur. In view of water scarcity , a tanker costs anywhere between Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000.
