PM Modi to address Vijay Sankalp rally in Madhya Pradesh today

In the run-up to the Lok Sabha election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. He will visit the Dhar district and address the Vijay Sankalp rally where BJP workers, mainly from tribal-dominated Dhar and Ratlam-Jhabua Lok Sabha seats, will participate. "Prime Minister will tomorrow address 'Vijay Sankalp' rally in Dhar and formally launch BJP's poll campaign for the coming Lok Sabha polls," BJP's state media in-charge, Lokendra Parashar told PTI.

The prime minister was scheduled to address rallies at Itarsi and Dhar on February 15 and 16, respectively. However, the programmes were cancelled due to the Jaish-e-Mohammed attack on a CRPF convoy that killed 40 personnel in Pulwama.

In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Dhar and Ratlam-Jhabua constituencies were won by the BJP. The party had won 27 of the total 29 seats except for Guna and Chhindwara constituencies, which were retained by Congress stalwarts Jyotiraditya Scindia and Kamal Nath, respectively.

In 2015, the Congress won the Ratlam-Jhabua byelection, which was necessitated following the death of the sitting BJP MP.
