Unemployment, increase in crime rate, drug abuse among youngsters, poor infrastructure in villages are among the top agendas which the residents want the government to include in their manifesto.

Residents of Kalka and Pinjore are demanding a bypass to ease traffic congestion throughout the day. The other issues raised by them is the sale of drugs like charas, ganja, heroin to youngsters. The residents alleged that the drug use in on a rise as cops are clueless about the drug peddlers operating in the town.

The residents demand revival of HMT as many people lost their jobs and are still unemployed after its closure. Another problem worrying residents is the increasing number of illegal mining cases. The residents alleged that the Kalka MLA is not acting tough on illegal miners which is taking a toll on the natural resources in the district.

Besides this stray menace, removal of encroachments, setting up of more colleges, inundated roads among other issues were raised by the residents.

The government must tap opportunities in tourism and develop Morni as a tourism spot to generate employment, residents averred. President of Shivalik Vikas Manch Vijay Bansal said, “There is a list of issues here in our constituency and the current government has completely failed in helping the residents.”
