MUMBAI: The city and its adjoining areas woke up to overcast skies on Friday, and witnessed light rainfall after noon. Dadar, Lower Parel, Sion, Mahim, and Ghatkopar, as well as parts of Thane and Navi Mumbai experienced rain showers.
Some parts of Madhya Maharashtra also witnessed heavy rain. Weathermen said that similar rain activity is expected to continue over the weekend and may spill over to the next week as well.
While the monsoon's official withdrawal was announced on October 14, weathermen said these were post-monsoon showers. Light drizzles in the city will continue, said K S Hosalikar, deputy director-general (western region) of IMD.
On Friday, rain recorded from 9.30am - 5.30pm by IMD Santacruz observatory was 1.2mm. Maximum temperatures dipped on Friday to 30 in Colaba and 31.1 in Santacruz, as compared to the 36 of Thursday.
