Prakash Rao new mayor of Warangal

WARANGAL: Gunda Prakash Rao , corporator of the 26th division, has been unanimously elected mayor of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation.


The election was held in the GWMC council hall on Saturday. The mayor’s post fell vacant after sitting mayor Nannapaneni Narender resigned from the post following his election to the legislative assembly from Warangal-East in December.

Since then, deputy mayor Khaja Sirajuddin Ahmed has been looking after the affairs of the civic body.

Warangal Urban collector and election officer Prashant J Patil announced Rao’s election after he ran unopposed.
