Prayagraj to get more than 51 lakh trees

ALLAHABAD: Prayagraj will get maximum, about 51.7 lakh, trees in the plantation drive this year followed by Jhansi where over 49.7 lakh trees will be planted and Gorakhpur which will be made greener by about 38.3 lakh trees.


UP will plant 25cr trees this year with at least 90% of trees getting planted in July itself.

Considerable number of trees will also be planted in Agra, Aligarh, Kanpur and Lucknow.

More than 26 lakh trees will be planted in Lucknow.

Forest department has raised at least 44cr saplings in 1,762 state nurseries.

At the same time, Biodiversity parks will be raised in at least 27 districts, which are Aligarh, Prayagraj, Amroha, Bhadohi, Bijnor, Badaun, Bulandshahr, Varanasi, Etawah, Farrukhabad, Ghazipur, Hapur, Hardoi, Kannauj, Kanpur, Kasganj, Kaushambi, Mathura, Meerut, Mirzapur, Muzaffarnagar, Pratapgarh, Raebareli, Sambhal, Shahjahanpur, Unnao and Ayodhya.
