Princess Beatrice's ex-boyfriend dies of suspected drug overdose in Miami hotel

Princess Beatrice's ex-boyfriend Paolo Liuzzo was found dead in a Miami hotel after a suspected drug overdose.

The 41-year-old's body was found on February 7 at the four-star CitizenM Miami WorldCenter Hotel.

Liuzzo, the son of an Italian plastic resin tycoon, dated Beatrice in 2005.

Sources told The Sun he had racked up significant debt and suffered with gambling problems.

Miami Police Department said officers responded to a call at the hotel at 3.22pm on February 7. Liuzzo's time of death is given as at 3.34pm.

It is being investigated as an "overdose death".

Liuzzo never married, worked as a consultant in the art sector and lived in an apartment close to the hotel where he was found.#

Beatrice was 17 when she began dating Liuzzo, who was 24 at the time.

Mum Sarah Ferguson said in a statement at the time: "We all have our own journeys and have to learn our way but Beatrice is a sensible girl, soon to be 18, with many friends including Paolo."

A close confidant of Liuzzo told The Sun he lived "a very fast lifestyle and we all feared it would catch up with him eventually".

Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in 2020.

In September 2021, they welcomed their first child, Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi into the world.
