Private company employees block NH in Sundergarh demanding payment of pending salary

Rourkela: Vehicular traffic on National Highway- 143 was severely affected today after employees of a private company staged a demonstration and blocked road near Kuanramunda of Sundergarh district protesting non-payment of salary by the company authorities.

The employees and workers of the Adhunik Metaliks Ltd.

alleged that they have not received salary for the last eleven months. This apart, they have demanded to operationalise the plant as early as possible.

Reportedly, the authorities on May 14 had assured to clear all the pending salary of the employees. However, despite repeated assurances, nothing has been done so far, alleged the protestors.

Following the blockade, hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road while traffic between Rourkela and Jharkhand was severely hit for several hours.

“The protest will continue. We have been demanding payment of salary pending for the last eight months. Even after repeated complaints, the company is not paying any heed,” said an agitator.

The company authorities are yet to respond to the allegations.
