Protest in Barwani over arrest of three

Barwani: Nagalwadi town in Barwani district remained closed on Saturday in protest against arrest of three persons, who had shared and commented on a post on social media that talked of traffic jam due to home minister's visit to Nagalwadi temple.

Demanding removal of Nagalwadi police station in charge Mazhar Khan within three days, the protesters met SP and collector with MP Gajendra Patel.

They alleged that on Nag Panchami, home minister Bala Bachchan had visited Bhilat Dev temple in Nagalwadi with his wife and due to his tour, traffic was halted for almost three hours. Troubled by the jam, Nagalwadi temple committee president's son Jitendra Yadav had shared a message on social media in which he had commented that due to visit of home minister, thousands of devotees were stranded in jam for almost three hours.

After finding the post on social media, a Congress leader Suresh Kalme lodged complaint against three persons, including Jitendra and Bhuru Bhadare. He complained that the trio misbehaved with him when he confronted them for their comment on the post. On his complaint, police booked the trio under section 151 of CrPC. They were produced before Rajpur SDM, who sent them for judicial custody.

Protesting against action of police, Patel accused government of misusing its power. “Government and minister are misusing their power and acting against opposition through police,” he told media persons.

The matter will be investigated by SDOP Sendhwa and an inquiry report will be submitted, SP Barwani DR Teniwar said.
