Pune: Earthmover driver held for killing bull

Pune: The Pune rural police on Wednesday arrested an earthmover driver for allegedly killing a rabid bull at Pondwadi in Indapur taluka, about 100km from the city, on October 27.

The Bhigwan police identified the arrested as Vikas alias Gotya Atole. “He has been arrested under the relevant sections of the Prevention to Cruelty of Animals Act and the IPC.

Another person wanted in the case is still on the run. We have already seized the earthmover,” an officer of the Bhigwan police said.

The incident came to light after a video of the bull being crushed under the earthmover went viral on social media recently. A suo motu complaint was registered after the bull owner decided against lodging a complaint in the case.
