Punjab: 30K lahan destroyed in Muktsar village

BATHINDA: The Muktsar police on Wednesday destroyed 30,000 litre lahan( illicit liquor before distillation ) put in the Abohar Branch at village Kattianwali. The police also recovered 14 drums(2800 litre)Lahan along with 2 Bhathi( lahan preparing units ), 20 bottles of illicit liquor. The police arrested two persons whereas 4 others succeeded in fleeing.

The 6 cases under excise act have been registered against 6 persons at Kabarwala police station in the district.

Earlier too in previous years, the Kabarwala police have destroyed lahan in large quantity in this area which is infamous for distillation of illicit liquor.

Muktsar SSP Raj Bachan Singh Sandhu said that on a tip off the Kabarwala police taking along officials from excise department conducted a raid at village Kattianwali where six persons were preparing illicit distilled liquor by putting drums and plastic sacks into Abohar branch. The 30,000 litre lahan was destroyed and 2800 litres which was into drums was recovered. The police arrested two persons whereas 4 fled from the scene. The cases have been registered against Raju, Malkit Singh, Gola, Binder Singh, Sandeep Singh and Talwinder Singh.
