Punjab farmer motivates others against stubble burning

PATIALA: A farmer Jarnail Singh of Mohan Majra village in Fatehgarh Sahib is now motivating other farmers to stop the burning of stubble. The district officials claimed that he himself had not burnt stubble in his agriculture fields from last many years and has set an example for other farmers. Besides this, he has been motivating other farmers to step forward in this way.

The agriculture officials claimed that he has developed a Custom Hiring Center (CHC) named Kisaan Welfare Group with the involvement of other farmers. They have availed the subsidized advance machinery through CHC for stubble management.

Jarnail Singh disclosed that he is using advanced agricultural machinery like MV plough, Mulcher, happy seeder, rotavator etc. He is cultivating around 20 acres of land and the practice of mixing the stubble in the fields has increased the fertility of the soil and also increased the yield of the crops. He urged the farmers to mix the stubble in the fields which would act as natural bio fertilizer and reduce the consumption of other fertilizers and increase the yield of the crops.

He urged the farmers for the maximum use of the advanced machinery for stubble management provided by state government on subsidy. He said that the smoke of the stubble increases the environmental pollution and it also reduces the visibility on the roads which results in the accidents. He urged the farmers to avail the benefit of the schemes of the government and contribute towards the conservation of the environment.
