Punjab: Peddler held with contraband in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA: The Khanna police on Friday arrested a drug peddler after 17,400 intoxicating tablets and 25 bottles of cough syrup were recovered from his possession. The accused was identified as Hardeep Singh, 35-year-old, of Khirniya in the Samrala area.


SSP Khanna of Ludhiana, Gursharandeep Singh Grewal said a police party were patrolling to the Main Chownk Samrala when they saw a suspected person near cremation ground who was carrying a backpack.

On suspicion, the police stopped him and during the checking 290 Packs of Lomotil Tablets (17,400 tablets) and 25 bottles of Rexcon (syrup) were retrieved from him.

Samrala police said that the accused was booked and arrest was made under various sections of NDPS act on Friday.
