Punjab police recover 10,000 litre undistilled liquor from Haryana village in inter-state raid, 7 apprehended

MANSA: Sardulgarh police of district Mansa on Tuesday recovered 10,000 litres of Lahan(undistilled liquor)from village Ranga near Rori town in district Sirsa of Haryana. The police, which had conducted the raid after obtaining search cum arrest warrants from Sardulgarh court, succeeded in arresting 7 persons allegedly indulged in illicit liquor trade.





Earlier few days ago a team of Bathinda police had reached village Desu Jodha near Dabwali town of Haryana while trailing a drug peddler. One person was killed in the operation while the relatives of the person wanted by police had very badly beaten up the police. This turned out to be big operation in Haryana after that which was carried out by involving court and neighbouring state police.

The police on October 20 had arrested one Gurmej Singh of village Jhanda Kalan in Mansa with 18 bottles of illicit liquor. The police on information provided by him made the big catch on Tuesday.

Gurmej had apprised the police that he used to get supplies of illicit liquor from village Ranga and police recovered 50 drums of 200 litre each full of lahan apart from 150 litre illicit liquor and equipment used in preparing liquor.

Mansa SSP Narinder Bhargav said that "during interrogation Gurmej disclosed that he had been buying illicit liquor from residents of Chak Tharaj Dhani village Ranga under police station Rori in district Sirsa for a long time. On disclosure statement of Gurmej Singh, search cum arrest warrants were issued from court of SDJM, Sardulgarh. In the morning a special operation was conducted with a DSP and three SHOs. Seven persons identified as Sona Singh, Chanan Singh, Kashmir Singh, Om Parkash, Malkeet Singh, Darshan Singh and Gurdeep Singh were arrested. Police apart from lahan and illicit liquor, recovered 4 LPG cylinders, and utensils from the possession of the accused".
