Punjab: Stubble burning cases reach 9,526

BATHINDA: There has been a substantial increase in stubble burning cases over the last three days. After 1,170 cases of stubble burning reported on Saturday and 1,319 on Sunday, Punjab recorded a whopping 1,874 cases on Monday.

With this, total cases of stubble burning shot up to 9,526 till May 18, which is well past the figure recorded last year.

On Monday, cases of stubble burning were recorded from 22 districts, with seven recording cases in three figures and one district falling just two short of 100.

Maximum of 340 straw burning cases were recorded in Gurdaspur followed by 240 in Amritsar, 198 in Moga, 178 in Ferozepur , 149 in Ludhiana, and 145 in Tarn Taaran.
