Punjab: Youth kills 5 family members before shooting himself in Moga district

MOGA: A youth allegedly killed five of his family members with a stolen weapon before committing suicide in village Nathuwala Garbi in Moga district of Punjab on late Friday night. Only the head of the family , somehow, survived the deadly attack but with splinter injuries.

The youth, identified as Sandeep Singh, killed his grandmother, father, mother, married sister and her daughter.

Sandeep Singh has left behind a suicide note in which he has alleged that a land transfer by the family head to some other members from extended family disturbed him. It is presumed he took the extreme step in a fit of rage and ended his own life after eliminating 5 members of his family.

The head of the family, Gurcharan Singh, has been admitted at Guru Gobind Singh medical college, Faridkot. Presently he is not in a position to tell anything about the gruesome incident.

The village sarpanch Jagsir Singh said that, "It has also been mentioned in the note that he had stolen the weapon from relatives’ place at village Araianwala."

The family was very influential in the village with 25 acres of land and a palatial house built in the middle of the village.

"It seems Sandeep was enraged by the step of the family head of transferring some land in the family and killed own family members. The police is thoroughly investigating into the matter," said a police officer.
