QAhmedabad: Angadia Robbed of Rs 50L; Bus Runs Over Man & 2 Kids 

1. Five Men Attack Courier Delivery Man on Train, Loot Valuables Worth Rs 50 Lakh

Five unidentified men attacked a delivery staffer of a courier firm in a moving Kutch Express train between Valsad and Dungri railway stations on Tuesday night (19 November) and made away with his bag containing cash and gold worth around Rs 50 lakh, police said.

According to police, Praveen Rajput, a resident of Gayetri building on M G Road in Vaslad who works as a delivery man with Amrut Kantilal, a local courier company, was on way to the head office in Surat by train. The train reached Valsad railway station around 8.30 pm and slowed down near the Kakri railway crossing after around eight minutes, when five youths entered the general coach and tried to snatch Praveen’s bag. Other passengers did not interfere seeing the country-made pistol with the robbers.

When Praveen resisted the attack, one of the youths hit his head with the butt of the pistol. Another one then pulled the chain and all of them escaped from the train with the bag. The exact amount of the valuables is not known but it is estimated to be between Rs 40 and Rs 50 lakh, police said.

2. Man, Two Children Run Over by Speeding Bus in Surat

Three members of a family, including two children, were killed after getting hit by a city bus on Dindoli bridge here in the early hours of Wednesday, police said.

Yashwant Ponikar, his son Bhavesh (7) and nephew Bhupendra (11) were killed when the motorcycle they were travelling in was hit by a speeding city bus on Dindoli bridge in Gujarat's Surat city, an official said.

Another man, who was injured in the mishap, was rushed to a government hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment, he said. The deceased children were on their way to a civic school in Navagam when the accident took place, the official said.

3. Lioness Found Dead in Gujarat’s Gir Forest

A lioness was found dead in Gujarat’s Gir forest on Wednesday, 20 November taking the death toll of big cats since September to 30, officials said.

The carcass of the lioness, aged between 9 and 12 years, was found at the Tulsishyam Range of the forest near the border of Amreli district, Chief Conservator of Forests, Junagadh Wildlife Circle, D.T. Vasavada said.

“A preliminary investigation has revealed that the feline died due to natural causes. There were no injury marks on the carcass,” he told PTI. The carcass has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death, Mr. Vasavada added.

4. Nithyananda Case: Two Ashram Managers Arrested; Two Minors Freed

Two managers of an ashram owned by self-styled guru Swami Nithyananda were arrested on Wednesday, 20 November a day after the police raided the premises on allegations of kidnapping, confining and torturing children.

According to the police, two other minor girls were freed from the ashram after they claimed that they no longer wanted to stay.

Police said Ma Pranpriya and Ma Priyatattva, two managers of the Yogini Sarvajnapeetham Ashram situated in Hirapur village, almost 50 kilometres from Ahmedabad, were arrested on Wednesday morning. The accused, who are followers of Swami Nithyananda, have been booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 364, 344, 323, 504, 506 (2) which pertain to abducting, confining, causing hurt, intentionally insulting and criminally intimidating respectively, along with sections of the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act.

5. Subros Inaugurates State-Of-The-Art Manufacturing Plant in Gujarat

Subros formally inaugurated its 9th state of the art manufacturing plant. The greenfield plant has been set up at Village Karsanpura, Taluka Mandal, District Ahmedabad in Gujarat.

The Phase-1 of the project now stands completed.

The production and supply of automotive air- conditioning parts and Engine Cooling Modules will be ramped up in accordance with the requirements of the customers.
