Rahul Gandhi to visit Amethi on Wednesday

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Amethi on Wednesday after his defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. He lost to Union Minister Smriti Irani by more than 52,000 votes.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Amethi on Wednesday. It will be his first Amethi visit after the defeat at the hands of Union Minister Smriti Irani.

Congress sources said that during his visit Rahul Gandhi would speak with party workers and leaders. He will meet the Congress presidents of five assembly constituencies of the Amethi parliamentary constituency.

Party leaders resign

The Amethi parliamentary constituency includes the Salon, Amethi, Gauriganj, Jagdishpur and Tiloi assembly constituencies. Congress district president Anil Singh said that Rahul Gandhi may also visit some villages.

After Rahul’s defeat in the Lok Sabha election, Amethi Congress District President Yogendra Mishra and Rahul Gandhi's representative Chandrakant Dubey resigned.

During his visit to Amethi, Rahul Gandhi will meet party workers at Gurbiganj's Nirmala Devi Educational Institute.

Rahul was representing Amethi since 1999. This time, he had contested from two places - Amethi and Wayanad in Kerala, winning in Kerala and losing in Uttar Pradesh.
