Raids on tobacco dealers

Ahmedabad: The enforcement wing of the state goods and services tax (SGST) department, raided paan masala and tobacco products dealers at 56 locations in 16 towns and cities of Gujarat. Dealerships of 37 traders were raided by the department officials for alleged tax evasion during the lockdown, when cigarettes, paan masala and other tobacco products were sold at a premium.

Raids were conducted at Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Siddhpur, Deesa, Palanpur, Nadiad, Bhiloda, Kalol, Vapi, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Godhra and Surendranagar.
