Railways diverts routes of two trains

PATNA: At least two pairs of mail and express trains originating from different stations under East Central Railway (ECR) have been diverted from their routes due to non-interlocking (NI) work to be carried out at Pilighat and Ashok Nagar stations under Bhopal division of Western Railway (WR) from November 15 to December 2.

According to ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar, the Ahmedabad-Darbhanga Sabarmati Express (19165/19166) will run via Maksi-Sant Hirdaram Nagar-Nisatpura-Bina and Bhagalpur-Ajmer Express (13423/13424) via Bina- Nisatpura-Sant Hirdaram Nagar-Nagda Junction-Kota, Kumar said.

Besides, the railways has cancelled Barwahdih-Chopan Link Express (15077/15078) due to NI work being carried out at Meralgram and Ramna stations under Dhanbad division from November 15 to 18. “Railways will, however, run Hatia-Chopan Intercity Express (18613) about 90 minutes behind its schedule on November 16 from Hatia,” the CPRO said.

Under the new Railway Board policy to run more MEMU (mainline electric modified unit) trains in each division of the zonal railways by replacing conventional passenger trains, the railways has converted Kiul-Gaya passenger train (53626/53629) into MEMU train to provide faster connectivity to local commuters. The new MEMU train will now run with the new numbers (63355/63356) to benefit the local commuters the most. Sealdah-Jaynagar Ganga Sagar Express (13185/13186) will have one more coach of 2AC by withdrawing one 3AC coach, he said.
