Raipur railway division develops UV sanitisation robot for railway coaches

RAIPUR: To contain prevention of Covid-19 epidemic, the Raipur railway division of sourth eastern central railway (SECR) has developed an ultra-violet sanitisation robot for the sanitisation of railway coaches .

An ultra-violet sanitisation robot to sanitisatise the railway coaches has developed by SECR's Raipur railway division, Raipur railway PRO Shiv Kumar Panwar told TOI.



The remote control operated ultra-violet sanitisation robot would be done cleanliness of railway coaches without entering the coaches.

The major feature of the ultra-violet sanitisation robot is its remote based movement through which the UV-C rays to be emitted by remote control for sanitising the railway coach and a camera vision helps to navigate its movement.

This will be helpful in fighting coronavirus. It is a non-chemical based technique and it will not cause contamination. While, UV-C rays are effective in killing pathogens and viruses. This helps to maintain the safety of the sanitary staff.

The sanitary staff were themselves sanitising the coaches by entering them earlier. Now, there is no need for the sanitary staff of direct contact with any surface of railway coaches to santisise the coaches after delpoying these ultra-violet sanitisation robot.

Each ultra-violet sanitisation robot machine costs Rs 2.50 lakh in the open market whereas the Raipur Railway Division staff have developed it at the mere cost of Rs 25,000.

It is another attempt towards self-reliance by the Raipur division of Indian Railways for fight the coronavirus.
