Raipur: Three minors sexually assault Class 1 student in school washroom

Raipur: Three 10-year-old boys allegedly sexually assaulted a six-year-old girl at a school in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The incident took place on Tuesday in the washroom of the school. The school is located within the limits of the Khamtarai police station. A complaint was filed after the parents of the minor survivor approached the police on Thursday.

The survivor is a student of Class 1. 

The parents of the minor alleged that they had reported the incident to the school but no action was taken against the three accused. When they did not get a response from the school authorities, the minor's parents approached the police. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. While a case has been lodged against the accused, none of them has been detained by the police yet. 

On Thursday, the three accused took the six-year-old girl to a washroom in the school. One of them stood outside the washroom while the other two allegedly sexually assaulted the minor. One of them was standing outside to alert the other two if someone approached. 

A teacher of the school saw the three accused and scolded them before taking the survivor to the principal's office. Following this, the principal sent the minor back to her home. According to a report, the minor told her parents about the incident. The parents went to the school but when they did not get a response, they turned to the police for help.

The police filed a case in relation to the incident. The statement of the survivor was recorded before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and she was sent for a medical examination. The medical examination confirmed that the minor had been sexually assaulted. Further investigation is underway. 

School sweeper arrested for sexually assaulting minor girl in Delhi 

A similar incident came to light earlier this month from the national capital when a minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by the sweeper of a school in South Delhi. Identified as Picha Mutthu, the accused sweeper was sent to judicial custody after charges were made against him. 

After the parents of the minor lodged a complaint against the accused, the police launched an investigation. They checked the footage of the CCTV camera installed at the school. Mutthu was identified by the minor's mother. The medical examination of the minor suggested that she had been sexually assaulted.
