Rajagiri Public School to host curated art & literature fest

Kochi: Rajagiri 3600 – a festival of literature, art and films — would be held at Rajagiri Public School on Saturday. The one-day festival, which would see participation of several known writers and artists, is expected to widen the horizon of children and provide them with comprehensive education.

The festival has Shinie Antony, author and co-founder of the Bangalore Literature Festival, as the director.

Rajagiri 3600 will be inaugurated by Khyrunnisa A, author of childrens’ books, and Reenu Puri, executive editor of ‘Amar Chitra Katha’.

The festival will have sessions related to theatre, storytelling and mythology.

Resource persons attending the meet include Vikram Sridhar, Janaki Sabesh, Madhavi Mahadevan, Sowmya Srinivasan, Poornima Kaushik, Priya Muthukumar, Trupti Srikanth, Smitha Nair, Subodh and Lakshmi Sankar.

The festival also has a number of workshops designed to provide hands on learning experience to children.

T P Premjee, an international name in sculpture, will give a live demo and provide input on clay sculpture. Artist Sunil Linus De will lead the workshop on water colour painting. One of the sessions would have the presence of poet, critic and artist Kavita Balakrishnan.

The festival also has a session on ethnic toy making. Artist John Baby will demonstrate indigenous methods of crafting toys. The IKFF School Cinema brings together a rare collection of short movies specially curated for children.

There will also be competitions in English and Malayalam for students on recitation, storytelling, story writing, elocution and extempore. The festival is open to students from other schools too.
