Rajasthan: 32 staff of 108 ambulance call centre test +ve

JAIPUR: The call centre of 108 ambulance emergency response services at the State Institute of Health & Family Welfare (SIHFW) in Jhalana has been affected by Covid as 24 more employees were found infected with the virus on Sunday. So far, 32 call centre employees have been diagnosed with the virus in the last three days, an official of GVK EMRI, the firm roped in by the government to run its 108 ambulance services, said.




The company, however, claimed that services have not been affected. “We have 80 employees out of those 32 have been found infected. We have four rooms from which we are running the call centre. We have vacated one room which was affected. We are running the call centre from three rooms,” said the official.


The work of the call centre is to receive calls from needy patients who require ambulances in case of accidents, heart attacks or other such emergency even Covid cases. The employee of the call centre help in arranging ambulances to the needy.

On Sunday, the state reported 1,169 cases including 127 in Jaipur, which took the count to 52,497. In last 24 hours, 11people died too due to Covid taking the count to 789.

Active cases touched a new high of 13,473 cases. Currently, Alwar has the highest (2,164) active cases, followed by Jaipur (1,863), Jodhpur (1,527) and Kota (1,275).

Districts which reported new cases are Jaipur (127), Kota (115), Ajmer (98), Jodhpur (79), Udaipur (78), Chittorgarh (58), Sikar
(57), Pali (55), Rajsamand (52), Bharatpur (46), Barmer (42), Dholpur (39), Nagaur (34), Baran(34), Sirohi (31), Bikaner (29), Sriganganagar (26), Alwar (26), Sawai Madhopur (25), Bhilwara(23), Karauli (19), Jhalawar (18), Bundi (15), Jalore (11), Pratapgarh (8), Hanumangarh (8), Dausa (5), Dungarpur (5), Jaisalmer (4) and Jhunjhunu (2).

Four persons died in Jaipur taking its toll to 219, Kota reported four deaths taking its toll 45, Nagaur reported its 35th death, Pali reported its 32nd fatality and Jalore reported its 6th casualty.

An IAS officer, who had tested positive for Covid a couple of days ago, has been admitted to RUHS Hospital for treatment.
