Rajasthan BJP submits list of candidates to Amit Shah

JAIPUR: Rajasthan BJP’s core committee has submitted the list of shortlisted candidates in the remaining nine Lok Sabha seats to party president Amit Shah in Delhi on Monday. It has put an end to extensive lobbying and pressure building tactics by the ticket seekers.

“The list has been submitted to the Shah who will take a final call on the candidates,” said Madan Lal Saini, state president of BJP.

The submitted list has either one or two names on each seat for the central team to decide. He added that if asked, they are ready to again review the candidates for the remaining seats.

The core committee in its earlier meeting was asked to review the names in the nine seats out of 25 Lok Sabha seats. The remaining seats are—Rajsamand, Barmer, Banswara, Nagaur , Churu, Dausa, Bharatpur, Alwar and Karauli-Dholpur.

“The party's central leadership was not happy with the initial panel of candidates for these seats. They were asked to revise the list and look for more candidates with having high winnability factor," said a BJP source.

A member of the core committee has hinted that two seats out of the total pending could be given to women candidates. Earlier in the day, the core committee members held a meeting with the BJP election in charge of Rajasthan Prakash Javadekar at his residence. The meeting took time to zero-in candidates for Nagaur, Rajsamand and Barmer seats.
