Rajasthan: BSP lodges petition against merger of MLAs with Congress in HC

Jaipur: The process of besieging the Gehlot government of Rajasthan has now intensified. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has also filed a petition in Rajasthan High Court against the merger of six MLAs into Congress. Not only this, the merger of MLAs has been challenged in a petition filed by BSP General Secretary Satish Mishra.

BSP MLAs Lakhan Singh (Karauli), Rajendra Singh Gudha (Udaipurwati), Deepchand Khedia (Kishangarh Bass), Joginder Singh Awana (Nadbai), Sandeep Kumar (Tijara) and Wajib Ali (Nagar, Bharatpur) joined the Congress.

Mayawati has opposed BSP MLAs for merging with the Congress not once but many times. In this sequence, BSP President Mayawati had said yesterday, 'BSP could have gone to court even earlier, but we were waiting for the time when Ashok Gehlot and Congress could be taught a lesson. Now we have decided to go to court. We will not let this issue go. Will go to the Supreme Court in this case.' She had targeted the Gehlot government saying, 'After the elections in Rajasthan, the Congress had given unconditional support, but unfortunately CM Ashok Gehlot merged all our MLAs into his party to harm the BSP.'

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Madan Dilawar has also filed a fresh petition in Rajasthan High Court against the merger of BSP MLAs into Congress. It is being told that Madan Dilavar had filed a petition earlier in this case. His petition was rejected by the High Court on Wednesday. In his petition, Madan Dilawar demanded, 'these 6 MLAs be disqualified from membership of the Legislative Assembly under the anti-defection law, but the speaker did not take any action'. After that Madan Dilawar went to the High Court.
