Rajasthan: Congress shifts candidates to hidden location

Jaipur: A day after the elections to posts of ward members in 49 local bodies across 24 districts, the Congress on Saturday swung into action to shift the potential winners to an undisclosed location in order to prevent horse-trading ahead of counting of votes on November 19.

The Congress workers and leaders were seen to be quite active at the Bhiwadi municipal board in Alwar, where the BJP has held the post for the past 10 years.

Congress party was also seen to be adopting a similar strategy in other districts.

Apart from shifting the Congress candidates to safe places, the party also moved the independent candidates and the candidates belonging to other parties to safer places. The candidates from Bhiwadi were lodged at Golden Bagh resort in Alwar and preparations were being made to move them to an undisclosed location.

With the Congress candidates lodged at the resort in Alwar, the independents and candidates of other parties have been shifted to two other places. Tijara MLA Sandeep Yadav, who had joined the Congress party, led from the front to shift the potential winners to undisclosed location. Till Sunday, over 40 candidates had been lodged at the resort in Alwar, while around 20 others have been moved to other locations.
