Rajkot: Arms dealer, buyer arrested
Rajkot: An arms dealer and a buyer who had purchased a firearm from him were arrested in Limbdi of Surendranagar district on Sunday night.
Police said the arms dealer, identified as Harshad Solanki (32), had allegedly sold a country made pistol to Devraj Sotia (28).
“We arrested Solanki after his name was revealed by one Amruddin Katiya who was arrested with a country made pistol, which, he said, had bought from Solanki.
After his arrest, Solanki revealed the name of Sotia, following which we arrested him,” said D M Dhol, inspector with Surendranagar local crime branch.
The police recovered one country made pistol, two pistols and one revolver, worth of Rs 60,000 from Solanki. During his interrogation, Solanki confessed to having sold seven firearms in Surat, Godhra, Bhavnagar and Nadiad in the past.
Solanki was earlier arrested in a murder case in Dhrangadhra of Surendranagar district in 2013. He was booked by Nadiad and Halol police also in illegal arm cases in 2018. Solanki told the cops that he used to smuggle arms from Madhya Pradesh. TNN
