RAJKOT: Three persons were arrested with counterfeit currency having face value of Rs 1,79,500 from Sidsar Road in Bhavnagar on Saturday night.

Police said the accused, identified as Kishor Italia (42), Vijaygiri Goswami (24) and Mehul Hirani (21), were found in possession of 40 fake notes of Rs 2,000 denomination and 199 fake notes of Rs 500 denomination.

"Italia is the main accused who used to print the notes, while Goswami and Hirani would circulate them in the market. After incurring a heavy loss in his diamond unit, when Italia was rendered bankrupt, he decided to try the business of counterfeit currency after watching how the fake currency note is printed on Youtube," said D D Parmar, sub-inspector with Bhavnagar rapid response cell.
