Rampur: Two kids killed, 35 hurt as tractor-trolley overturns

RAMPUR: Six people, including two children, of a family were killed and 35 others sustained injuries after the driver of the tractor-trolley they were travelling in lost control over the vehicle that overturned and fell into a roadside pond near Nankhuna village in Moradabad district late on Sunday night.


According to police, the family members were on their way home in Lakdi Fazlipur village of Moradabad after attending a family function. The injured were shifted to the district hospital.

The deceased were identified as Jyoti (six months), Monu (10), Bisma (50), Parmeshwari (40), Gabbar (35) and Sheela (40). Critically injured Neeraj, Jyoti and Saroj have been admitted to the Moradabad district hospital.

Jai Parkash, one of the injured, said, "The driver of the tractor lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn. The tractor turned turtle and fell into the pond."

Jai Parkash's six-month-old-daughter Jyoti died on the spot and his wife is battling for life. The doctors have referred all the injured to Meerut 's Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College.

Dilari police station SHO Deepak Kumar said, "Thirty-six people were traveling in the trolley when it turned turtle in the Nankhuna village. With the help of local villagers, t0he injured, who were trapped under the trolley, were rescued and sent to the hospital. Six of them were declared brought dead while the other three persons who had suffered serious injuries were referred to a medical college in Meerut."
